  Big Announcement could be a Sting against JWD

  i am sure some of you remember speculation in the past that the borg would.

  start false letters to smoke out the elders that are passing on the information .

  to the evil apostates.. "a big announcement on april 24th" sounds like it could fit the bill.

  OK,

  1. It ain't no sting. My dear mom just confirmed that:

     This announcement is to take place on Sunday at most halls but, since not everyone meets on Sunday, some have public talk on Monday, Tuesday etc.

     So the early meeters are cheaters! There are really no secrets to the loose lipped elders. Maybe they were promised punishment of extra pioneering if they talked.
  2. This thread just became useless with the cacophany of theme music. I haven't heard such a clashing sybol sound since my last meeting I attended. (Don't make me find the Oklahoma! theme on the Innernets!) ((I'm not ghey, I just saw it recently at the in-laws place)) (((Not that there's anything wrong with that! -- Oklahoma or gayness))) ((((I love my dead gay son))))

  Yesterday was my birthday and what a bum day it was !

  well i turned another year younger yesterday, my girlfriend who has been living with me for almost a year tells me, here is your birthday present and i will not be living here any more.

  here son has had a time with trouble and last summer needed a place to live.

  a month ago someone stole half of my pain medications.

  Ditching the Book Study. Is it just a Buy Now, Pay Later option for the WT?

  it's unconfirmed and it may be nothing more than a rumour but it seems that the congregation book study may be about to see it's demise.

  i think this could have a very positive effect as far as the watchtower is concerned for quite a few years.. the mood will be lifted.

  there will be a whole new evening of freedom and the brothers will be happy for it, don't underestimate the goodwill this will generate.

  Question... is this merger between bookstudy and TMS/Service Meeting going to change the length from 1.45 hours to something like 2.45?

  Good question. Nearly 3-hour meetings would REALLY be the sux. My mom just emailed me the "Congregation Announcement" missive with the statement at the end that "This will help with all the economic problems out there".

  I love you, Mom, but that is hardly the motivation.

  I have to agree this is a pretty surprising move from a group that relishes telling people they aren't doing enough.

  my dad just "came out" recently as annointed and i find it so weird.

  he's always been pretty level headed and he's been in for over 30 years.

  I think the unmitigated increase of annointed is fantastic. I can think of several holy rollers who I hope partake as it will further solidify my opinions and might well keep nudging my wife along to enlightenment. .. -- Not Feeling Annointed

  btw: in the late 80s and early 90s when I would have gone to prom it was considered to be a hotbed of immoral conduct. dating was only for those who wanted to be married

  asking "where is that in the bible" is a pretty stupid question for jws. clearly biblical basis is not what they look for in daily situations. more accurately is "scriptural principle". this is the basis for turning some one's opinion into rules you have to live by.

  I know everyone was eagerly anticipating this. Here at long last are my results from the Belief survey. After being 27% or so in the first one I figured I'd independently validate that.

  Drum roll...

  I'm a Neo-Pagan. I've always thought I identified loosely with Buddhism so it was interesting to see that show as 85ish%

  Wow. That is odd. Anyone else get that? Interestingly, I still show up as 25% JW. So maybe there is a common thread of logic there. I abhor what is wicked authoritarian.

  Wow, Burn, is that your hand with the spider or is it a picture you got off the Innernets? I've seen some big ones during my turn in north Florida but nothing quite like the beasts you apparently have in S Fla. Yike.

  We have quite a population of Black Widows in eastern TN. Gloves: Don't garden without them!

  Do JW's attract the mentally ill, or do their beliefs cause mental illness?

  if so, do you think the religon attracts the mentally ill, or do you think that their beliefs and practices actually cause mental illness?.

  my cousin spent a few years raised as a jw but the majority as a non-believer. once when he visited my family when I was about 12 and he was 14 he asked me, "why are witnesses so weird?". my aposta-dar went off at first. later we talked about it and I realized he was right. witnesses are accepting of anyone who wholeheartedly accepts their message. this includes nuts (no fruits please, they don't like them) and whack-o's of all stripes. regarding the *creation* or cause of mental illness, I think repressing natural independent thought is unhealthy. its all downhill from there.
